Please read this Important information:
Applicants must submit copies of official transcripts from all prior learning institutions (High school and College) along with this application by 5:00 PM EST on July 15, 2022.
The following criteria must be met prior to submission of this application:
All applicants (first-time, readmit, transfer and continuing students) must meet the NCCC admission application requirements and the following Nursing admission requirements. Applications must be submitted between September 1 and July 15 for the next September class:
Satisfactory completion of all academic foundation requirements. To be accepted into the program applicants must earn the minimum required score on placement assessments or pass the academic foundations course listed below at this or another institution:
Writing................ENG 099 Reading...............AAC 042 Mathematics........MAT 012*
* MAT 023 can be substituted for MAT 012 if student elects. Note: These academic foundation courses do not count toward the degree.
Current high school students with 12-college credits or less will have their overall high school GPA used for ranking. Those applicants who have more than 12-college credits (including courses in progress) will have the overall college GPA used for ranking.
Students who have a grade of less than passing (C) in two or more required BIO courses at NCCC or other institutions are not eligible.
Nursing Quality Point Ranking System
Admission to the Nursing program is based upon a quality point ranking system. A student must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75 to be considered for the program (for high school students, this GPA is 80%). In addition to the GPA minimum, students will earn additional quality points for the completion of corequisite courses and relevant work completed prior to their application for Nursing.
Students are ranked from highest to lowest based upon their total number of quality points. Please refer to the sample quality point chart below to determine if you would be eligible to receive quality points.
Candidates for Practical Nursing must be able to provide the following substantiating documents to earn points in these categories:
Documented verification of items 1-5 must be received by admissions by 5:00 PM EST on July 15, 2022. The maximum number of points that can be accumulated for ranking is 30.
